Miss Holmes is a mystery play by Chicago playwright Christopher M. Walsh. It first opened in 2016 at Lifeline Theatre in Chicago, which specializes in stage adaptations of books. It was popular enough so that he created a sequel.
The play recasts Arthur Conan Doyle's detective stories with women in the two lead roles:Sherlock Holmes as a brilliant, unconventional woman detectove in 1880s London and Dr. Dorothy Watson is a woman doctor who becomes Holmes's partner in her detective activities.
The play is a comic Victorian mystery with a serious side. It is about women who were dismissed, controlled, or shut away for refusing to fit the roles society gave them.
The show brought back Mia McGlinn for her third season directing the 'Fall' show at the Kitsap Forest Theater. As with the previous two shows she directed, she made sure to include music as an important part of the show, even though it isn't a musical.
