Guest Blog post from Jerry Dreesen:

Kitsap Forest Theater has been a great way to spend time with my family. I can't think of any other place in the Northwest where a dad, mom and kids can spend time camping out in the woods, meeting other interesting people AND performing on st ...

One of the most exciting things about making theatre is seeing the disparate elements of a production begin to cohere and work together. There is a clear but mysterious moment when a scene or a song or a dance number begins to breathe; it goes on its own, seemingly without the effort and struggle that it required in the laborious early stages ...

I’m writing from the steps of the Kitsap Forest Theater, watching our choreographer extraordinaire Guy Caridi sketch the beginnings of Oklahoma’s famous Dream Ballet. All of us (and my laptop) are grateful that, though gray, the skies over Seabeck are dry today. Just in case, however, we’ve got rain coats, plastic sheeting to sa ...

How do you find an affordable floor to finish the unique yurt when you are on a budget? We solved that problem by finding some beautiful oak flooring on craigslist that was being removed from a house set for demolition. With a lot of volunteer labor, time, and sweat, plus one talented craftsman – we went from the picture on the left to the pi ...

On November 30th, Craig McCoy spent the day filling in the electrical ditch and spreading gravel around the site. We now have electricity ou=t to the site, and gravel walkways all around. The deck and ramp are almost finished, and Craig put gravel right up to the shed, so we don't need any stairs.

We still need to figure out what l ...

We had a productive two days at the Kitsap Yurt site this week. On Friday Craig McCoy and his tractor dug the 100' trench from the main electrical box to the yurt site and he also prepared the site for the shed we bought off of craiglist. Thanks, Craig!. Mac Smith, our contractor,  worked on the ramp to the yurt.

The yurt platform is finished! Mac did a great job. Thanks to Don Nolte for his help all week long. It's a big, big circle in the middle of the forest.

We are looking forward to our Yurt Raising Party next week on Wednesday and Thursday. Should be exciting!
